CBRE URBAN PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR OPENS FOR ENTRIES

Annual Global Competition Offers Luxury Photo-Safari for Best Image Depicting ‘Cities at Work’

The annual CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year competition has launched. Now in its ninth year, the global competition challenges photographers to capture what urban means to them through the theme “Cities at Work”.

The competition is free to enter and open to both professional and amateur photographers. Each entrant can submit up to 24 images; one to represent each hour of the day. First launched in 2007 by leading global real estate advisory firm CBRE the competition’s growth has been remarkable. It is now the largest competition of its kind in the world, receiving over 11,000 entries from more than 79 countries last year alone.

The global winner will be able to choose a luxury photo safari from a range of exotic locations sponsored by CBRE. Prizes will also be awarded to regional winners in Europe, Asia and the Americas and for the 24 standout images representing each hour of the day. Previous winners have captured life in the souks of Marrakech, early morning commutes in Hong Kong and a jeweler lost in her work in Düsseldorf.

Martin Samworth, Chief Executive Officer, EMEA, CBRE commented:

“The competition has strengthened each year and there is no doubt that the ninth year will raise the bar even further. Each entry provides a unique insight into urban life around the world, increasing our understanding and appreciation of the built environment on a global scale. I look forward to seeing what the 2015 competition delivers and encourage both amateur and professional photographers to enter.”

Global children’s development charity Plan International, CBRE’s EMEA charity partner, will be involved in the competition for a second year. The competition’s young person’s category (aged 11-15) will again be judged by Plan’s Youth Advisory Panel. For every entry in the CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year competition the company will make a donation to Plan International.
